Tonight (Aug. 31, 2013), the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to pay-per-view (PPV) live from the HMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisc., for UFC 164. The card is headlined by a rematch between Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis for Henderson's UFC Lightweight championship.
This will be the second time that the two meet, as Pettis defeated Henderson at WEC 53 in Scottsdale, Ariz., to become the final World Extreme Cagefighting lightweight champion. The bout was one of the most memorable as Pettis jumped off the cage to land a kick to Henderson's face in the final minutes of the fight.
It's Henderson's last loss and one that has left a sour taste in his mouth for the past three years. Since the bout, Henderson has fought seven times in the UFC's Octagon, while Pettis' time in the UFC has been defined by mostly time spent on the sidelines due to injury.
Henderson spoke with Ariel Helwani after yesterday's weigh ins and he seems as fired up as ever for tonight's fight.
Just getting my hands on him. Revenge, whatever you want to call it. However you want to word it. It is what it is. I've been waiting a while to get my hands on him. That's all I want is getting my hands on him.
Cool, you're entitled to your opinion. He has all sorts of opinions about a lot of topics. It is what it is. Come Saturday night, we'll see what he's saying.
You would think so. You would hope so. As a professional athlete you always want to improve and get better. I know that I'm a lot better than I was three years ago. I'm assuming that he's better than he was three years ago. Hopefully he brings his best. I bring my best. Let the chips fall where they may.
It's cool. I definitely dig it. It's not a big thing for me at all. I guess I'm used to it maybe? My first UFC ever was in front of 55,000 people who all wanted to beat me up so from there it's all been cake.
UFC 164 airs live on pay-per-view (PPV) tonight at 10 p.m ET. Be sure to follow MMAMania.com for all of tonight's action right here.
