Carlos Condit vs. Martin Kampmann 2 fight results UFC Fight Night 27, Round 1

The first time Carlos Condit met Martin Kampmann inside the Octagon, he was fresh off a killer run in WEC and looking to make a name for himself on a much bigger stage. He lost a close fight, and never forgot about it. Now, over three years later, he got the chance to avenge that defeat in a rematch at tonight's (Wed., Aug. 28, 2013) UFC Fight Night 27 event in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Round one started with "The Hitman" forgoing any possibility of getting clipped on the feet and straight up shooting in for a takedown immediately. He got it too, though that only made "The Natural Born Killer" search for a quick submission.

One he didn't get.

He continued looking for sweeps and eventually ended up on top, though he had to brave a brief rear-naked choke attempt to get there. The superior position was short lived, as Kampmann got right back to his feet and continued grappling against the fence.

Pummeling for position is so entertaining ... not.

Kampmann did execute another takedown, though Condit managed to get back up from it much quicker than the first. Still, the Dane went right back to wrestling and scored one more takedown before the opening round came to a close.
