There is no denying the impact the Diaz brothers have had on the ufc and mma in general. Both are still young and are already legends in the sport. Both having a tough upbringing in the mean streets of Stockton where able to survive their environment to become professional athletes of the highest caliber.
I will start with the older brother Nick in just his second fight he won the ifc welterweight championship against Chris Lytle after Nick first 2 professional fights he entered the King of the Mountain tournament where he would fight 3 times in one night and be crowned king if not for a bad ref stoppage in the final fight against Jeremy Jackson who he later defeated by knock out and submission. In his second fight in the ufc he one punched knocked out Robbie Lawer then lost some bad decisions against guys that did not want to fight him, they where such fans of his all they wanted to do was hug him. People may think he was cut from the ufc for these losses but its not the case he left on a 2 fight win streak beating Josh Neer and Gleison Tibau and left to look to fight the best in the world. One of those being Gomi he went and defeated in Japan when Gomi was on top of his game. He then went to collect some more belts but a bad ref stoppage kept him from getting the elite xc belt from KJ Noons who he also redeemed himself against later. Getting bored with being the best he challenged himself by fighting a couple of middle weights something some champs won't do and then added the strikeforce ww belt to his collection. Now back in the ufc we all now Gsp should have been able to hold nick down for 5 rounds but that didn't happen even with all the roids, grease and pampering gsp could not get the take downs and because of a spy giving away nicks game plan gsp survived. Nick now just waits for his next opportunity for a belt he is at the top and no need to work his way up, as soon as the ww or mw champ gets the balls to fight him Nick could hold either belt, maybe even the lhw belt if he bulked up a bit but we all now he would never roid his way there so it would take time.
As for Nate Diaz a guy who has spent most of his career in the ufc but also fought in pancrase the wec and strikeforce and should have been champ in all its just a matter of time before he gets another shot at the lw belt and holds it, possibly the ww belt as well as long as Nick dosn't have it at the time he is another guy not afraid to fight in multiple weight classes . He was injured in his fight with Bendo and we all saw how Josh didn't want to fight him Nate was just fine and about to make his move when they did that bullshit stoppage. Its only a matter before he is champ.
One last note on both future champs they are both prescribed marijuana for their a.d.d and have never abused it, never abused drugs or steroids like most fighters. Both are the cleanest fighters in mma today.
