The deal was officially announced earlier last evening on UFC Tonight and confirmed by Eye, herself, on Twitter:
The StrongStyle fighter out of Ohio will be moving up to the bantamweight division, something she has no problem doing considering the significant amount of weight she cuts to make 125. She recently opened up on the subject to Steph Daniels:
"I know that I cut a decent amount of weight to get down to 25. I've changed up a lot of things, and 25 gets harder to hit every time, but I still manage to get there. Really, my options are open. I can fight at 25 or at 35. There have been times when I was supposed to fight at 25 and ended up fighting at catchweight because my opponent, Carina Damm, came in at 133, so it's not like I couldn't handle a 35 pound fighter."
A bout against former Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion Sarah Kaufman was also announced to be in the works for Eye's UFC debut. Kaufman was recently pulled from the upcoming UFC Fight Night 27 card after her opponent Sara McMann pulled out for undisclosed reasons.
Eye's claim to fame was a solid run in Bellator which helped her rise to the number one ranking overall in women's flyweight. Her best performance came against former Bellator champion Zoila Gurgel where Eye dropped her in the opening exchange and then choked her unconscious with a standing arm triangle in the first round.
She recently took a catchweight fight against top Brazilian Carina Damm, winning a decision this past June. Eye is expected to make her UFC debut in two months (Oct. 19, 2013) at the loaded UFC 166 event in Houston, Texas..
