Sarah Kaufman will have to put her UFC debut on hold ... and she's not happy about it.
The former Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion was expected to meet Sara McMann on the main card of UFC Fight Night 27 on FOX Sports 1, which drops on Aug. 28, 2013 at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Unfortunately, the Olympic silver medalist was forced to bow out due to injury and no other female fighters were willing to step up and take her place.
That was "devastating" news to the former 135-pound queenpin (via Twitter):
Well, it's official: no replacement opponent would take the fight so I'm off #UFN27. I'm devastated about pushing my @ufc debut back.
There is a silver lining.
Getting yanked from next week's show in Indy will likely give McMann enough time to get back into the swing of things, which means Kaufman doesn't have to adjust her training camp, just prolong it. When and where these two gals will go to war remains to be seen, if at all.
Kaufman (16-2) is fresh off a split-decision win over Leslie Smith at the Invicta FC event earlier this year in Kansas City and has just two defeats on her record: submission losses to Marloes Coenen and UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey.
Stay tuned for more information on Kaufman's pending UFC debut as it becomes available.
