UFC Fight Night 26 results: Travis Browne knocks out Alistair Overeem with a front kick

Paul Abell-US PRESSWIRE

Travis Browne used a front kick to the face to knock out Alistair Overeem in their heavyweight battle at tonight's (Sat., Aug. 17, 2013) UFC Fight Night 26 event in Boston, Massachusetts.

Fox Sports 1 got heavy as all hell for the co-main event of tonight's (Sat., Aug. 17, 2013) UFC Fight Night 26: "Shogun vs. Sonnen" event at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, as former Strikeforce and K-1 Champion Alistair Overeem entered the cage to do battle against the hard-hitting Travis Browne.

Overeem came out firing, stalking his prey. Browne covered up and allowed himself to be backed up against the fence. It wasn't long before the deadly Dutchman had landed a hard knee to the body that put "Hapa" on the floor.

The referee wanted to step in to stop it but Browne was defending intelligently. Then, finally, he started fighting back once he was on his feet. His punches lacked power, though, and Overeem was still pushing him around.

It looked like "The Reem" was in total control, showing respect for the Hawaiian's offense, but not nearly enough.

That's when it happened.

Browne landed a front kick clean to the chin. It sent Overeem backwards, knocked silly. Browne followed up with some vicious hammerfists and the referee had no choice but to step in and stop it.

Wow.
