Not since Bad News Brown hit the Ghetto Blaster on Bret "The Hitman" Hart has a pending betrayal been this obvious.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champions, Tito Ortiz and Quinton Jackson, who formed an uneasy alliance as pro wrestlers for TNA Impact Wrestling, are now at odds after "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" slugged "Rampage" with a hammer on live TV.
And here you thought mixed martial arts (MMA) was violent.
Considering these two Octagon exports will face off under the Bellator MMA banner, as the headlining act for the promotion's inaugural (and uncontested) pay-per-view (PPV) event on Nov. 2, 2013 in Long Beach, California, the idea that they would be friends is about as legit as that rubber hammer Ortiz used to murk his former stablemate.
"Suspension of disbelief."
Anyway, expect to see more of this duo on Spike TV as the weeks go on. With both TNA and Bellator operating as extensions of Viacom's combat sports brand, their appearances will serve as hype for the big shebang later this year. But do these Thursday night shenanigans compel you to tune in?
If nothing else, they're at least good for a laugh.
