After going 12 straight bouts without a defeat, "Demolition Man" was paired off against fellow Strikeforce import Antonio Silva at UFC 156, with a crack at reigning 265-pound champion Cain Velasquez hanging in the balance. "Bigfoot" capitalized on the overconfident Dutchman and sent him to the sidelines via "Upset of the Year."
But all hope is not lost.
Overeem (36-12) can get right back into the thick of things by disposing of fellow heavyweight hopeful Travis Browne, who knows a thing or two about getting stepped on by "Bigfoot." They'll do the deed in the co main event of this Saturday night's (Aug. 17, 2013) UFC Fight Night 26 event from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
This is his journey back.
"The REEM" video from season three, episode four, chronicles his efforts to get "back to basics" in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, one that already boasts championship titles in DREAM, Strikeforce and K-1. Will he add UFC to that mix?
We'll find out this weekend in "Beantown."
