Earlier this afternoon (August 10, 2013) Bellator Welterweight contender, War Machine, sent out several offensive tweets. He claimed that he had just raped his girl friend, Christy Mack, because she was making him "wait" until after running errands.
Wait stands for sex, by the way.
He then followed up that tweet by saying that "Real men rape."
If you've followed War Machine on twitter, you know this is exactly the sort of thing he does all the time. He's incredibly wreckless with what he writes, but hey, whatever, it's War Machine being War Machine.
Mack originally attempted some damage control.
To be clear, @WarMachine170 says stupid things at times; we all know this. He did not rape me, nor would he rape any woman (or man).

The problem? It was over two hours before War Machine made any sort of attempt to apologize himself.
I tweeted something earlier that was stupid, insensitive and wrong. Rape is never something to joke about ever. I sincerely apologize.

Do I believe this is sincere? Not in the slightest. The biggest tip off is that the original tweet is still on his time line, as are his excuses that it was taken out of context. This is a case of a fighter desperately hoping that an apology will be enough to avoid facing any sort of repercussions from his promotion.
And for what it's worth, I reached out to Spike TV for comment and haven't received any word back from their PR staff.
