Perhaps the greatest pound-for-pound fighter in the history of mixed martial arts, Anderson Silva, returned to action to defend his middleweight throne against Chris Weidman at tonight's (Sat., July 6, 2013) UFC 162: "Silva vs. Weidman" pay-per-view (PPV) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was a fight many predicted he would lose.
Silva opened the second round with his arms out and asking for more of Weidman's offense. It wasn't coming early and Anderson looked like he was just having a good time.
He even started covering one eye.
Then, suddenly, it happened.
Weidman landed a hard shot and Silva went down. He was hurt, badly, and Weidman's follow up punches finished the job. We're talking a clean knockout, one that put "The Spider" out cold.
That's what happens when you're too cocky.
