Top-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight contender, Constantinos Philippou, finally has a fight, a 185-pound showdown against dangerous division dark horse, Francis Carmont, according to a Yahoo!Sports.com report.
It's expected that Philippou and Carmont will hook 'em up at UFC 165, which takes place at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Sept. 21, 2013.
Philippou was supposed to battle former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Ronaldo Souza at UFC on FX 8 back in May; however, an injury during training forced "Costas" out of the high-profile 185-pound showdown. He was looking to build off a pivotal technical knockout win over Tim Boetsch at UFC 155 in Dec. 2012.
The former Team Serra-Longo-trained fighter (camp switch details here), who called for a piece of top contender Vitor Belfort upon his Octagon return (just not in Brazil) is 5-1 since his Octagon debut back in 2011.
Carmont, meanwhile, is fresh off a unanimous decision win over Lorenz Larkin at UFC on Fox 7 back in April. The victory was the fifth for "Limitless" inside the Octagon, who has also topped Tom Lawlor, Karlos Vemola, Magnus Cedenblad and Chris Camozzi.
The TriStar Gym-trained mixed martial arts (MMA) competitor will look to keep his perfect UFC record intact and, in the process, likely crack into the Top 10 rankings with an impressive performance against Philippou.
UFC 165 will feature a main event between Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones, putting his 205-pound title on the line opposite Alexander Gustafsson. In the co-main event, Interim Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao will risk his 135-pound title against against Eddie Wineland.
