"My opinion is this: I'll fight Jon Jones, all the guys from my class, all the guys that work in the UFC - all the fighters ... I respect all the fighters. I respect Jon Jones. I respect Chris Weidman but I'm here for working...I'm not scared of Jon Jones, of Chris Weidman or whoever. I'm here to fight. That's it. It's simple."
-- Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva sent a ripple throughout the mixed martial arts (MMA) community on Monday (July 1, 2013) when he stated he doesn't believe he would be able to defeat Light Heavyweight titleholder Jon Jones. A "super" fight between "The Spider" and "Bones" has been all the rage over the last year or so, and it came as a surprise to many when what many believe to be the greatest MMA fighter to ever line sounded unsure about his ability to defeat the bigger, younger and stronger 205-pound champion. Before everyone could get too far ahead of themselves, though, Silva cleared the air on Tuesday's (July 2, 2013) edition of FUEL TV's "UFC Tonight," stating that he is afraid of no man when it comes to stepping foot in the Octagon -- that includes Jones. While a fight between Silva and Jones would be a monumental event for the sport and a dream match up for many, it will never happen if the Brazilian can't get past Chris Weidman in the main event of UFC 162 this weekend. A bout numerous big name fighters are predicting Silva to lose.
