UFC Quick Quote: Dana White says fights with trash talk ‘always suck' and don't ‘deliver'

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Spor

Do fights that are built up and promoted with the help of fighters talking trash produce the excitement expected of them? UFC President Dana White thinks that they absolutely do not.

"When you get these fights where these guys talk sh*t, a lot of stuff goes back-and-forth, those fights always suck. They really do...[MacDonald vs. Ellenberger] was a highly anticipated fight that actually overshadowed the main event, and it didn't deliver."

-- Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White, in reference to the lackluster UFC on FOX 8 co-main event between Rory MacDonald and Jake Ellenberger, vents at the post-fight press conference (watch it here) about how he believes fights that are hyped up with trash talk typically don't deliver when the cage door closes. The Las Vegas boss made his displeasure very clear with how the featured welterweight contest in Seattle, Wash., on Saturday night (July 27, 2013) played out and, like everyone else, believes the highly anticipated match up didn't live up to expectations. White raises a good point about how when a mixed martial arts (MMA) contest is magnified when two fighters start taking verbal shots at each other, more often then not it results in an underwhelming affair and a boatload of disappointed fans. That's exactly what happened at UFC on FOX 8 as the alleged "bad blood" between MacDonald and Ellenberger made for arguable one of the most unentertaining fights of the evening.

Do you agree with White's statement regarding trash talk and how it correlates to fights that fail to produce the good? Let us know you opinion below.
