UFC on Fox 8 results: Robbie Lawler knocks out Bobby Voelker

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Robbie Lawler did what he does best at UFC on Fox 8 in Seattle tonight (Sat., July 27, 2013), knocking out Bobby Voelker in the second round of their welterweight showdown.

Although he wasn't initially booked to compete on tonight's (Sat., July 27, 2013) UFC on Fox 8: "Johnson vs. Moraga" event at the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington, Bobby Voelker got the chance to avenge his defeat in his Octagon debut against Robbie Lawler, a longtime veteran with a still respectable name in the fight game.

Of course, it's just as likely the UFC was simply hoping for a bangfest on one of its four network events throughout the year.

Sure enough, the two were brawling early before Lawler grabbed a quick takedown and went to work there. By the time they got back up, Voekler was pouring blood like a leaky faucet, his nose compromised thanks to Lawler's "Ruthless" attack.

Then, shortly into the second stanza, the end.

Voelker was coming forward and Lawler fired off a kick that landed clean to the dome that put Voelker on his back staring up at his now charging opponent. The lights were on but I"m not sure anyone was home.

If he was after the kick, he wasn't after the follow up punch. It landed clean across the chin and the referee decided it was time to call a halt to the suffering.
