The story of UFC on Fox 8: "Johnson vs. Moraga," which takes place later on this evening (Sat., July 27, 2013) at KeyArena in Seattle, Wash., centers around the fact that, well, there isn't much of a story at all.
Sure, the Flyweight championship is on the line in what should prove to be an explosive main event offering that features Demetrious Johnson defending his strap against John Moraga, but with the little guys proving to be a difficult sell and this being the summer season, expectations are low.
Though the rating could come in the worst they've ever been for a network broadcast of an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event, the quality of the competition inside the cage should be as good as ever. That's because Moraga, while largely unknown thanks to working the Facebook portion of the "Prelims" card in his two Octagon appearances, finished both those fights and is widely regarded as the top 125-pound fighter in the world.
Other than Johnson, of course.
You may not recognize the names, or even care that much if you do, but it should deliver when the referee gives the go ahead for the two elite fighters to get it on.
We can only hope.
MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire card on fight night (Sat., July 27, 2013), starting with the Facebook "Prelims," which are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET, right on through the FX-televised under card bouts and then main card action, which is slated to air at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
See you then!
