Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight Tim Means and bantamweight John Albert, did not make the impression they would have liked at today's (July 26, 2013) weigh-ins as they missed the 156-pound and 136-pound weight limits for their fights tomorrow night (July 27, 2013) at UFC on FOX 8: "Johnson vs. Moraga."
Means (18-4-1) missed weight by the largest margin of any competitor, tipping the scale at 160 pounds on his first pass at the scale. Despite being given two hours, "The Dirty Bird" did not make a second attempt for his preliminary card showdown against Danny Castillo.
Albert (7-4) may have only missed weight by one pound; however, the fact he enters the fight on a three-fight losing streak already puts his job on the line and the lack of professionalism only adds to his chances of being released with another defeat.
As a result of each fighter's failure to make weight, the Washington State Athletic Commission (WSAC) has fined each fighter 20 percent of his purse, an amount that will be determined following the event depending on whether or not they receive a "win" bonus.
The portion fined from each man's purse will be paid to his respective opponent and both match ups are now considered catchweight contests.
