"Suga" recently ended his two-fight skid by defeating Dan Henderson via split decision at UFC 161 last month and now that he's back in the winner's circle, he isn't looking to let up, as he eyes a fight against another former division champion Mauricio Rua.
From "UFC Tonight:"
"Rashad has nixed a move to 185, and wants to fight in October or so. He zeroed in on the winner of Sonnen vs. Shogun. He says, ‘I have a lot of respect for Chael, but I'd really like to fight him."
The only problem with that scenario is, Sonnen revealed he will be going back down to the middleweight division after his "Beantown" brawl against Rua. So, the only way "Suga" will ever get his hands on Chael, is if he changes his mind (again) and decides to make the weight cut down to 185 pounds.
Should "Shogun" prove victorious against "The American Gangster" and matchmakers grant Evans his wish to face the former PRIDE FC Middleweight Grand Prix tournament winner, it would be a fight two years in the making, as they were originally booked to tango in a title fight at UFC 128 back in March of 2011.
Rashad was forced to bow out of the contest due to injury, which allowed then-teammate Jon Jones to step in and fill the void. "Bones" went on to defeat Rua to become the youngest UFC champion ever.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Anyone feeling a potential fight between these two former champions? How do you see it playing out?
