George Sotiropoulos vs KJ Noons fight added to UFC 166 in Houston

Something has got to give in "Space City" when a pair of struggling Lightweights both look to steer out of three-fight losing skids.

George Sotiropoulos and K.J. Noons -- both in desperate need of victories -- will collide at UFC 166: "Velasquez vs. Dos Santos 3," which takes place at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, on Oct. 19, 2013.

The Newcastle Herald brought word of the make-or-break Lightweight showdown earlier this afternoon.

Sotiropoulos, who not too long ago was considered a potential 155-pound title contender, recently suffered a third-round technical knockout loss to Ross Pearson at UFC on FX 6 in Dec. 2012. It was an international mixed martial arts (MMA) event that served as The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Smashes" Finale, a show on which Sotiropoulos served as a coach opposite "Real Deal."

Prior to the devastating Pearson loss, Sotiropoulos dropped a close decision loss to Dennis Siver at UFC 127 and followed it up with a knockout loss to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 132.

Noons, meanwhile, was thumped by Donald Cerrone in his Octagon debut at UFC 160, dropping a lopsided unanimous decision in May 2013. The former Elite XC champion came into the UFC riding a two-fight losing streak, finding himself on the wrong end of decisions defeats to Ryan Couture and Josh Thomson under the Strikeforce banner.

Go big or get gone, gentleman.

UFC 166 will be headlined by a Heavyweight championship trilogy match between reigning division kingpin, Cain Velasquez, putting his title on the line against Junior dos Santos in what will be the third meeting between the pair in less than two years.

In the co-featured fight of the night, Roy Nelson returns to the Octagon to throw hands opposite Daniel Cormier, while Gilbert Melendez and Diego Sanchez are also slated to hook 'em up on the pay-per-view (PPV) main card in a Lightweight bout that could have serious 155-pound title implications.

That's not all.
