Former Invicta FC atomweight champion Jessica Penne wows in bikini photoshoot

I think we finally know what Willis was talkin' about.

While Jessica Penne may be one of the most intimidating atomweight fighters on the planet, she's also got a softer side.

Just one week out from her impressive first round rear naked choke submission victory over Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc at Invicta FC 6 in Kansas City, Missouri earlier this month (July 13, 2013), Penne met up with MMA photojournalist Tracy Lee for a special bikini photoshoot on the California beaches.

It's not exactly something the former Invicta atomweight champion is used to.

"I spend most of my time with my hair in a ponytail and in gym clothes. It's kind of cool to do something else. I don't get to do it often."

Penne lost her title to Michelle Waterson in the main event of Invicta FC 5 via fourth round armbar in one of 2013's wildest and most entertaining female fights. She's been campaigning to get a rematch and perhaps a little extra exposure like this photoshoot will put the Reign MMA fighter over the edge.

It's been a good 13 months for fans of the athletic female MMA bodies. Last year, current UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey stripped down for ESPN's The Body issue and her current challenger and rival coach on season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), Miesha Tate, posed for the magazine just weeks ago.
