Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Pat Healy set for UFC 165 in Toronto


Undefeated Russian lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov will meet No. 9 ranked Pat Healy at UFC 165 on Sept. 21, 2013 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Two powerful grapplers will meet in an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight contest at UFC 165, as today (July 21, 2013) it was reported by that Khabib Nurmagomedov will meet Pat Healy at the Sept. 21, 2013 event in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. UFC officials later confirmed the match up.

Both fighters are looking to make their way up the rankings, and the winner will move one step close to a 155-pound title shot.

Nurmagomedov (20-0), currently unbeaten in his professional career, is a highly talented grappler with a gritty approach to fighting. He's used his in-your-face style to defeat all of the twenty opponents that have been put in front of him thus far in his career, including the likes of Gleison Tibau and Thiago Tavares.

"The Eagle" is coming off a three round drubbing of Abel Trujillo at UFC 160, which saw him complete takedown after takedown en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Healy (29-16, 1 NC), a standout fighter from the now-defunct Strikeforce organization, has made a name for himself in mixed martial arts (MMA) as a relentless grinder. His raw power and grappling prowess have been huge tools in his 29 career wins, in which he has earned 15 submission and six (technical) knockout victories .

"Bam Bam" last fought at UFC 159, where he took on lightweight contender Jim Miller in a battle that initially saw him take home a submission victory, which was later overturned when Healy failed his post-fight drug test.

UFC 165 is headlined by a light heavyweight title bout between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson. The card will also feature Renan Barao putting his interim bantamweight title on the line against Eddie Wineland.
