Leonardo Santos has made the decision to drop to the lightweight division for his next fight after winning The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): Brazil 2 as a welterweight.
The most recent winner of the Brazilian version of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) reality show, Leonardo Santos, is switching weight classes for his next Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bout.
Santos won TUF: Brazil 2 and the six-figure UFC contract that goes along with it at UFC on FUEL TV 10 last June with a second-round submission of William Macario.
A lot of fighters who enter TUF fight above their natural weight class due to the fact you must go through multiple weight cuts in order to compete up to four times in a six to eight week span.
Santos is no different, and after winning the show as a welterweight, his next fight will take place at lightweight, according to a report from Brazilian news outlet SporTV Globo.
While Santos isn't excited about the dieting and lack of indulging in his favorite foods that comes along with cutting weight, ultimately it is a choice that was made for the betterment of his career going forward and it will be interesting to see if the 33-year-old can make any waves in the UFC's absolutely loaded 155-pound weight class.
MMAmania.com will pass along news regarding Santos' debut fight at lightweight when it becomes available.
