Brendan Schaub vs. Matt Mitrione heavyweight fight rebooked for UFC 165 in Toronto

After having their fight scrapped from UFC on FOX 8 due to injury, Brendan Schaub and Matt Mitrione have been rescheduled to face each other at UFC 165 on Sept. 21, 2013.

Last week Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight Brendan Schaub was a "sad panda," but now he's been granted his wish.

"The Hybrid" was scheduled to face Matt Mitrione at next Saturday's (July 27, 2013) UFC on FOX 8 event in Seattle, Wash.; however "Meathead" was forced to withdraw from the event just over two weeks out due to a injury.

Fortunately, the injury won't keep Mitrione out long as UFC officials have confirmed the fellow cast members from The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) reality show will clash at UFC 165: "Jones vs. Gustafsson" on Sept. 21, 2013 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Mitrione (6-2) kept himself employed after a misconduct suspension with a brutal first-round knockout win over Philip De Fries at the UFC on FUEL TV 9 event earlier this year in Sweden. His lights-out performance over the struggling Brit snapped a two-fight losing streak.

Speaking of which...

Schaub (9-3) also rebounded from consecutive losses by taking a unanimous decision win over Lavar Johnson during the UFC 157 pay-per-view (PPV) show last February in Anaheim. While it wasn't the prettiest of victories, the 30-year-old did what he had to do to get the "W."

And keep his job.

UFC 165 is headlined by a light heavyweight championship affair as Jon Jones will attempt to defend his 205-pound title for a record sixth time against No. 2 ranked contender Alexander Gustafsson.
