If former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight number one contender Nick Diaz was offered a return fight inside the Octagon, it didn't come from promotion president Dana White.
Or anyone else in the ZUFFA front offices.
"Nobody at the UFC talked to Gracie or anyone else that reps Nick," White told MMA Fighting.
Cesar Gracie, longtime trainer and manager for the former Strikeforce champion, recently told reporters that Diaz had an offer on the table, one he considered to be "kind of neat," but that no decisions had been made regarding a potential return.
As for the phantom offer?
Gracie is remaining tight-lipped, which brings us into familiar territory. Earlier this year, exiled UFC brawler Leonard Garcia claimed he was offered a contract from Bellator MMA; however, Bjorn Rebney and Co. said no such invitation was ever extended.
He said, he said.
White did say that Diaz was looking to get back inside the Octagon after breaking up with his girlfriend, but that sounds like the extent of the conversation. Perhaps more of the "bullshit games" Gracie likes to play?
Stay tuned.
