Both men wanted it, and now barring any last minute contract hurdles it appears they've got it.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweights Daniel Cormier and Roy Nelson have been bickering back-and-forth about a potential match up in recent months, and now the contest has a targeted date and location.
According to a report from Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, the grudge match will take place Oct. 19, 2013, from the Toyota Center in Houston, TX, but only if Nelson is able to complete negotiations and sign a new contract with the world's premier mixed martial arts (MMA) organization.
The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 10 winner claimed the UFC offered Cormier the spot as his opponent for the fight, but "DC" was deemed medically unfit and could not take the bout.
Cormier did not take kindly to the insinuation he declined the fight and stated he wanted to beat up Nelson on behalf of White, who has had a love-hate relationship with the outspoken heavyweight.
Despite the fact Nelson was thoroughly defeated by Miocic at UFC 161, Cormier is still very much on board with the fight that could possibly be made official in the coming days.
UFC 166 is headlined by a heavyweight championship trilogy bout as Cain Velasquez puts his title on the line against Junior dos Santos in what will be the third meeting between the two in less than two years.
