Rumor had it Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) would be returning to England later this year and they've apparently rung true.
The as-yet-unnamed event is tentatively scheduled to go down October 26, 2013 in Manchester. Two top-10 middleweights in this wide open division no longer dominated by Anderson Silva are fighting to be next in line for a title shot. MMA Junkie reports the bout will serve as a five-round main event for the card at Manchester Arena (formerly known as Manchester Evening News Arena).
Bisping (24-5) is coming off a huge win over Alan Belcher this past April which helped him bounce back from a rough second round defeat at the hands (and feet) of Vitor Belfort in Brazil. "The Count" is always knocking on the door for a potential shot at the belt, but a victory over Munoz might just be enough to finally put him over the top.
Munoz (13-3) is coming off a big win over Tim Boetsch at UFC 162, his first fight in over a year and one in which he dominated the "Barbarian" with some downright nasty ground and pound. "The Filipino Wrecking Machine" was in prime position for a title shot before a loss to newly-crowned champion Chris Weidman set him back.
Perhaps a victory over his second straight top 10 opponent could put him in prime position.
Both fighters are gunning for "All American" after he defeated longtime 185-pound kingpin Anderson Silva earlier this month, so a victory this October would go a long way toward both men's goals of reaching the pinnacle of the division.
