White said as much during a recent interview with NBC Sports:
"I'm flying to LA next week to go talk to [Silva]...Yes I do [expect the rematch]. Anderson Silva is going to get knocked out again by reality in a few days, and he is going to want to do this fight again... Actually, I am looking to do the rematch THIS year... It could be [UFC 168]. There is going to be a rematch. There is no way we don't do this rematch."
Weidman ended Silva's seven year reign of terror over the 185 pound division with a crisp left hook which caught "The Spider" on the chin and send him flopping to the canvas in the main event of UFC 162 this past weekend (July 6, 2013) in Las Vegas (watch the highlights here).
Silva initially was opposed to the idea of a rematch, saying he was tired and didn't want to fight for the belt anymore in his immediate post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. But boy how things change when you've had some time to think about them (and open as a betting favorite should you rematch).
Do you think the fight gets made by the end of the year?
