Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will stage its annual Fourth of July weekend mixed martial arts (MMA) extravaganza from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sat., July 6, 2013.
UFC 162 will feature a middleweight championship contest in the main event when top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter -- and longtime 185-pound kingpin -- Anderson Silva puts his title on the line against undefeated No. 1 ranked division contender Chris Weidman.
Who's gonna win?
That depends on who you ask. In our first round of pros' picks, "The Spider" walked away with a 7-4 victory (watch the video here). Today, we'll hear from Lyoto Machida, Fabricio Werdum, Cisco Rivera, Mark Munoz, Tom Watson, Matt Mitrione, Erik Paulson, Nam Pham, Uriah Hall, some guy with a beard and Greg Jackson.
Drum roll please...
Lyoto Machida: No pick
Fabricio Werdum: Silva by knockout
Cisco Rivera: Silva by knockout
Mark Munoz: No pick
Tom Watson: Silva by experience
Matt Mitrione: No pick
Erik Paulson: Silva by knockout
Nam Pham: Weidman by finish
Random beard guy: Weidman by knockout
Uriah Hall: No pick
Greg Jackson: No pick
Anderson Silva comes out ahead once again, this time by a score of 4-2.
UFC President Dana White recently said "every fighter" was picking Weidman, but it seems like a lot of them are waffling when it comes to an actual pick. Don't want to hurt anyone's feelings! Anyway, this is what we have to work with, so take it at face value.
Discuss.
