What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
Just over a year ago, UFC lightweight champion Ben Henderson was getting tapped in the brown belt division at a Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) tournament, but the "Smooth" one was not deterred and instead kept his nose to the grindstone.
His hard work has definitely paid off as he was awarded his BJJ black belt earlier this month by MMA Lab coach John Crouch.
Earlier today Henderson announced on twitter that he brought home the bacon at a BJJ tournament this past weekend, winning two gold medals. The champ clarified:
Not bad, not bad at all.
Henderson is slated to take on T.J. Grant in the main event of UFC 164 later this summer (August 31, 2013), who's a pretty darn good ground technician himself, having won 12 of his first 13 professional fights via submission to open out his career.
Will Bendo's improvements on the canvas be a factor?
