Two welterweight fighters will be eagerly searching for their first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) victory at UFC 163 when Bristol Marunde welcomes Viscardi Andrade to the Octagon on Aug. 3, 2013.
Entering the UFC on the heels of a loss under the Strikeforce banner, the 31-year-old has struck out in both his opportunities on big stages in mixed martial arts (MMA) and need to get an impressive victory soon if he hopes to stay there.
Andrade (13-5) will bring a six-fight win-streak into the Octagon topped off by four-straight wins by (technical) knockout or submission.
The native of Brazil has spent his entire career competing on the local scene in his home country, and while the scenario may not be much different for his UFC debut, the level of competition certainly will be.
It is unknown at this time if Marunde vs. Andrade will take place on the preliminary, which will be broadcasted on Facebook and FX or the pay-per-view (PPV) main card.
UFC 163 goes down from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Aug. 3, 2013. The main event of the evening will see featherweight champion Jose Aldo put his title on the line for the fifth time against Anthony Pettis, who moves down from the lightweight division to challenge "Scarface"
