Not unlike Rony Jason, Daniel Sarafian was booked on tonight's (Sat., June 8, 2013) UFC on FUEL TV 10: "Nogueira vs. Werdum" fight card at the Paulo Sarasate Arena in Fortaleza, Brazil, for the sake of continuity. He was supposed to compete in the middleweight final of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil's first season but was felled by an injury.
Then he turned around and came up short against C.B. Dollaway in his Octagon debut.
This bout, against newcomer Eddie Mendez, seemed to represent the powers that be giving him a bit of a reprieve, or at least the chance at one.
Sure enough, it took him almost as little time as it took Jason to come back strong and score an impressive victory, as he took Mendez down, worked from top, and ultimately secured an arm triangle to force a tap.
That's two submission finishes in the first couple minutes of the first couple main card bouts, all in favor of the home team in Brazil.
