Upstart regional mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion WAR MMA held their first event last night (June 22, 2013) at the Stockton Arena in Stockton, Calif., and for a show many assumed would be a disaster, the event was far from it.
The show was promoted by former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender Nick Diaz, who decided to start up the "Nick Diaz Promotions" company after retiring from the sport following a loss to Georges St. Pierre at UFC 158 last March.
From the pay-what-you-want format (donate here) that allowed fans to watch the event for free or donate however much they felt was deserving to the strong production quality of the stream, there are very few negative things to say about WAR MMA 1.
Not everyone can spend their Saturday night at home watching fights, and to make things even more convenient for those who may have missed the event, WAR MMA has made the entire 12-fight card available on demand for viewers worldwide.
