Joseph Benavidez and Jussier Formiga will share the cage in a flyweight bout at the UFC's third FOX Sports 1 event, scheduled for Sept. 4, 2013.

Although a location and venue for the event has not been formally announced, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is already starting to build their third FOX Sports 1 fight card with the addition of a big-time flyweight affair.

At UFC on FOX Sports 1 #3 in Brazil on Sept. 4, 2013, former 125-pound title challenger Joseph Benavidez will enter the cage to do battle with Jussier Formiga.

Brazilian news outlet SporTV Globo first reported the flyweight battle; however, UFC officials have yet to confirm the match up.

Benavidez (18-3), the world's No. 1 ranked contender, will look to win his third consecutive bout since failing to capture the title against current divisional kingpin Demetrious Johnson at UFC 152 in Sept. 2012.

"Joe-Jitsu" has recorded two very important wins in 2013 thus far, picking up a decision win over Ian McCall at UFC 156 and stopping Darren Uyenoyama with strikes at UFC on FOX 7 last April.

Formiga (15-2), the world's No. 5 ranked contender, erased the memories of a horrible UFC debut by recording his first win inside the Octagon against Chris Cariaso at UFC on FX 8 last month.

The 28-year-old entered the UFC in Oct. 2012 as one of the top three ranked flyweight fighters in the world, but was stopped by John Dodson in highlight reel fashion in his first appearance inside the Octagon, which killed any hype he had going for him.

UFC on FOX Sport 1 #3 is expected to take place somewhere in Brazil and will serve as the lead-in to The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 18, featuring coaches Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate. will provide more details about the upcoming fight card as they become available.
