Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to pull the trigger on its latest pay-per-view (PPV) fight card, UFC 162 TONIGHT (Sat., July 6, 2013), which is scheduled to close out Fourth of July weekend from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"Silva vs. Weidman" will feature a Middleweight championship contest in the main event when top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter -- and longtime 185-pound kingpin -- Anderson Silva puts his title on the line against undefeated contender Chris Weidman.

In addition, former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar will look to get into the 145-pound win column at the expense of Brazilian jiu-jitsu wunderkind Charles Oliveira, while Cub Swanson vs. Dennis Siver will collide in a battle that could determine the next challenger for the Featherweight title.

Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman

Round one: Silva ignores Weidman's glove tap during final instructions and we're off. Silva on the outside and Weidman at the cage center. Weidman shoots in for a takedown and he gets it, putting Silva on his back. Weidman throws a huge right hand and passes to half guard, dropping left hands from above. Good right hand from Weidman and then a left. Weidman attempts to pass to side control but Silva catches him and he's back to guard. Weidman drops some right hands from above and he dives on a leg! Weidman rolls but Silva twists free and they're back on their feet. Silva has his hands at his sides and Weidman flashes a jab. Silva taunts him, beckoning him to meet him against the cage. Silva's hands are on his hips and he throws a knee, then a right hand an dhe's toying with Weidman now. Kicks from Silva and he scores with a nasty leg kick. Weidman lands a jab and Silva taps his own chin begging him to keep striking with him. Now Silva scores with the jabs and Silva wings some big kicks at him. Silva kisses Weidman on the cheek after the round ends. 10-9 Weidman

Round two: Weidman throws some straight punches and Silva taunts him some more. Silva dancing on the outside and Weidman shoots in for a takedown but gets stuffed. Silva toying with Weidman and they trade kicks. Weidman lands a short lead hook and Silva taunts him again, hands at his side wobbling as if he was actually hurt. Weidman steps inside and fires off some more shots but Silva dodges them again, but WEIDMAN BLASTS SILVA WITH A LEFT HOOK! SILVA GOES DOWN LIKE A RAG DOLL AND WEIDMAN POUNCES. OH MY GOD IT'S OVER. CHRIS WEIDMAN IS THE UFC MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION!

Frankie Edgar vs. Charles Oliveira

Round one: Oliveira opens with a body kick and Edgar pops him with a right hand that stumbles him. Oliveria shoots in for a takedown but Edgar denies him and winds up on top. Edgar scrambles to his feet but Oliveira latche onto a leg working for a submission. Edgar spins free and they reset. Oliveira closes the distance and jumps guard. Oliveira has a body triangle from bottom and is trying to isolate an arm but can't get anything going yet. Oliveira attempts something but Edgar scrambles back to his feet. Nice left hand from Edgar and Oliveira fires back with some kicks on the outside. Thai clinch from Oliveira and he just misses with a big knee. They trade left hands and Oliveira scores with a right hand over the top. Oliveira attempts to clinch but Edgar tosses him to the canvas. Big left hook connects for Edgar and then a right uppercut. Oliveira attempts a takedown but Edgar reverses him with a whizzer and they're back to standing. What a wild pace! Body shot from Oliveira but Edgar pops him with a combination. Edgar gets inside and takes top position on the ground. He throws elbows up from bottom as time expires. 10-9 Edgar

Round two: Great leg kick from Oliveira and Edgar backs him up with punches. Another leg kick and Edgar catches it, blasting him with a right hand. Oliveira drops to his back but Edgar doesn't follow him to the ground. Oliveria steps forward aggressively but Edgar takes him down, landing inside his closed guard. Edgar backs off and they return to standing. Good left hook from Edgar and then another that cracks Oliveira on the chin. Oliveira flashes the jab but can't keep Edgar at bay one bit. Edgar works a combination to the body and head which forces Oliveira to respond with a flying knee but he can't land. Both men throw big shots in the pocket but Edgar is the more accurate of the two. They clinch and Edgar scores a huge takedown, slamming Oliveira to the ground but Oliveria fends him off with a huge guillotine choke but he runs out of time. 10-9 Edgar

Round three: Edgar tags Oliveira with a hook, then pops him with a left and right hand to stagger him! Oliveira fires back with a big right hand but Edgar avoids it and shoves him to the ground. The ref stands Oliveira up and he throws a push kick but Edgar steps inside. Nice right hand from Oliveira backs Edgar up. Good knee to the body and a left hand from Oliveira. Edgar shoots in for a takedown and knocks Oliveira down but can't keep him there. Instead he tags Oliveira with a left and a big right hand. Oliveira is undeterred and fires back with a right of his own and then an elbow. Spinning kick attempt from Oliveira and he knocks Edgar backwards. Edgar popsp Oliveeira with a right hand and then another and Oliveira is hurt! Edgar steps inside and pops him again and even throws a flying knee. Oliveira is starting to get his bearings back but Edgar swarms him, taking him down and throwing right hands on the ground. Left hand from Edgar on the ground and Oliveira needs a miracle. Edgar stands up and then drops down with a huge right hand. He stays on top until time expires. 10-9 Edgar

Final result: Frankie Edgar defeats Charles Oliveira via unanimous decision (30-27x2, 29-28)

Roger Gracie vs. Tim Kennedy

Round one: Kennedy works some outside kick early and he wings an overhand right but Gracie times it and takes him down. Kennedy has a head lock and tries to pop to his feet but Gracie is all over him at the moment with a body lock. Kennedy turns into Gracie, eating a knee but he's safely back to his feet. Kennedy creates some space but he whiffs with a hook and a front kick. Outside leg kick from Kennedy and Gracie scores with knees on the inside in the clinch. Gracie drops down and pulls Kennedy's legs out from under him. They scramble and Gracie takes his back, getting both hooks in. Good right hand from Gracie and they both battle for position. Kennedy is defending for now and he spins into Gracie, winging up on top as the first round finishes. 10-9 Gracie

Round two: Kennedy closes the distance and works for a takedown and he actually gets it. Kennedy winds up on top and he's dropping right hands. Gracie turtles trying to defend and Kennedy keeps the pressure on him with strikes. Gracie pops to his feet but they're clinching along the fence. Good left hand from Kennedy and Gracie takes inside position. Both men posture in the clinch and Kennedy takes Gracie down again. Kennedy can't do much from top and Gracie grabs a body triangle from bottom, stalling out long enough to force a stand-up. Gracie flashes a jab but eats a left hand from Kennedy. They clinch again and Kennedy pops him with some short left hands. 10-9 Kennedy

Round three: Both men playing it pretty cautious, working strikes from the outside. Kennedy attacks with leg kicks while Gracie fires back with jabs. Kennedy shoots in and grabs a reverse body lock, landing short knees to the thigh. Gracie shoots in, working for a takedown and he briefly puts Kennedy down but can't keep him there. Gracie looks tired. Now Kennedy has double underhooks in the clinch. They get separated and Kennedy steps forward with punches and kicks but can't quite connect on Gracie's chin. Gracie's offering very little now, just too tired. They clinch until time expires. 10-9 Kennedy

Final result: Tim Kennedy defeats Roger Gracie via unanimous decision (30-27x2, 29-28)

Tim Boetsch vs. Mark Munoz

Round one: Boetsch closes the distance and scores a takedown but Munoz reverses him and they're back to standing. Again Boetsch takes him down but Munoz quickly pops back to his feet. Boetsch has a reverse body lock and attacks with heavy knees to the back of Munoz's legs. Munoz turns into him and they separate, returning to standing in the cage center. Boetsch steps forward aggressively, backing Munoz into the fence again and throwing a heavy knee to the body. Munoz grabs a body lock and puts Boetsch on his back, trapping his legs but Boetsch pops back to his feet. They clinch and Boetsch connects with a foot stomp. Munoz attempts a takedown but Boetsch rolls forward to get on top. Munoz again attacks with a takedown attempt and he puts Boetsch on his back. Boetsch attacks with a guillotine choke and Munoz has to give up the position to escape. Boetsch again attacks the neck but Munoz scrambles to his feet. Munoz lands a huge right hand and Boetsch responds with a right of his own. They clinch and reverse each other along the fence. Munoz scores with a combination but Boetsch lands a front kick. They battle for position until time expires. 10-9 Boetsch

Round two: Both men jockey for position along the fence but neither can gain an advantage. Boetsch steps forward with a combination and lands a right hand. Munoz takes Boetch down, landing in mount but Boetsch scrambles. Munoz has top position as Boetsch turtles which is helping him avoid damage. Heavy right hands from Munoz but Boetsch pops back to his feet and works for a takedown but Munoz instead takes him down. Now Munoz is starting to load up with punches. Boetsch again pops to his feet and is working for a takedown but Munoz collapses on him and lands right hands to the body. Munoz lands some knees to the body and some right hands as time expires. He looks great now. 10-9 Munoz

Round three: They trade heavy right hands and Munoz shoots in for a takedown but Boetsch rolls him over with a guillotine. Munoz slips free and goes for another takedown but Boetsch is attacking him either on the arm or perhaps the neck. Munoz gets his arm free and starts dropping big ground and pound strikes. Munoz continues the onslaught and Boetsch just doesn't have enough of an answer. Boetsch is thinking kneebar but that just opens him up for more punches from Munoz. Munoz grabs Boetsch's arm and is thinking about a Kimura but he gives up on it. Munoz dives on a rear naked choke but Boetsch fends it off by securing wrist control but Munoz just pounds on him with right hands. Boetsch turtles and rolls for a kneebar but can't secure it. Munoz dives onto him with right hands as time expires. 10-9 Munoz

Final result: Mark Munoz defeats Tim Boetsch via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 29-28)

Cub Swanson vs. Dennis Siver

Round one: Sneaky head kick from Siver and Swanson responds with an outside leg kick. Siver is very mobile right now, bouncing around on his feet like crazy. Siver wings a huge right hand that just misses and backs Swanson up with a combination. Both men trade big strikes and Siver nearly connects with a head kick. Big overhand right from Swanson and he attempts a spinning wheel kick but Siver steps inside of it and takes him down. Siver passes to half guard and he's got Swanson on his back for now in complete control. Siver passes to side control, dropping some short punches. Swanson tries to hip escape and Siver nearly mounts him, but he instead gets back to half guard. Swanson attacks with a guillotine and creates enough space to explode to his feet. Big leg kick from Swanson staggers Siver at the end of the round. 10-9 Siver

Round two: Siver scores with a left hook early and Swanson seems a bit flustered. Spinning back kick only partially connects for Siver and both men trade a wide array of strikes on the inside. Swanson steps inside with a big bomb but Siver grabs a single leg, eventually giving up on it. Cartwheel kick from Swanson but it doesn't land clean. Huge right hand from Swanson just misses but he connects with a heavy body kick. Massive uppercut scores for Swanson and Siver tries to take him down but Swanson tosses him to the ground, landing in full mount. Siver tries to buck him but Swanson denies him, posturing up and dropping heavy punches. Swanson loses the position at the end of the round. 10-9 Swanson

Round three: Big kick from Swanson and Siver looks like he's lost a step here. Swanson scores with a left hook and then a nice right hand. Heavy body kick from Swanson and he scores a left head kick that grazes. Siver is definitely getting more stationary. Leg kick from Swanson lands just as Siver spins and Siver is starting to hesitate. HUGE right hand scores for Swanson and he lands again. Siver is in BIG BIG trouble. Swanson drops Sivr with a left hand followed by a massive right and swarms him with punches. Hammer fist from Swanson followed by a big right hand and Siver is done! That was fantastic!

Final result: Cub Swanson defeats Dennis Siver via TKO (punches) at 2:34 of round three

Chris Leben vs. Andrew Craig

Round one: Leben closes the distance looking for a takedown and he's got inside position along the fence. He grabs a single leg but can't finish it and both men trade inside strikes. Leben pulls Craig's legs out from under him but he can't keep him down. Craig backs him off with a knee and Leben fires off a leg kick. Leben steps inside with a body kick and lands a left hand. They clinch again and Leben has inside position and he works some dirty boxing. Craig creates separation and scores with a pair of straight punches up the middle. They break and Craig scores with a nice leg kick and a combination that staggers Leben. Again Leben stalks Craig down and he works for a takedown along the fence. Leben takes Craig down briefly but he pops back up. They create some space and both men trade big shots in the pocket. Craig shoots in for a takedown and gets stuffed right before the bell. 10-9 Craig

Round two: Leben works for a takedown at the beginning of the round and he can't finish it off. He works for a single but can't complete it and eats some short right hands and then a knee from Craig. Leben again works for a takedown on the inside but Craig stuffs him and responds with some nice dirty boxing. Knee from Craig and he's got a speed advantage here. Craig scores with an elbow as Leben wades in and then an uppercut. Leben steps forward with some hooks but can't land them and his clinch again fails to secure a takedown. Craig pops him with some crisp hooks and then a leg kick. Leben scores with a left and Craig fires right back. They clinch again and Craig has inside position but Leben reverses him and goes to work with short body punches. 10-9 Craig

Round three: Leben comes out throwing bombs and Craig catches him with a combination. Leben goes down and Craig swarms him but Leben hangs on for dear life, somehow surviving. Leben miraculously pops back to his feet and the crowd chants his name. Craig scores with a combination but Leben initiates a clinch, throwing short punches to the body. Craig backs off and they exchange in the cage center. Craig pushes Leben over and jumps on top of him, landing inside his guard. Leben fends him off and pops back to his feet but he's running out of time. Leben stalks forward but Craig changes levels and takes hi down. Craig passes to half guard but Leben pops to his feet. Craig plays it safe and shoots in taking Leben down again to close out the fight. 10-8 Craig

Final result: Andrew Craig defeats Chris Leben via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27)

Norman Parke vs. Kazuki Tokudome

Round one: Parke scores with a left hand and then another. He's looking for openings and again he catches Tokudome with a left hand. One more left for good measure and Tokudome doesn't have an answer for it. Now Parke wings a leg kick and catches Tokudome again with the left. Tokudome responds with a pair of lefts of his own but they don't have the impact of Parke's. Tokudome initiates a clinch but Parke reverses him and takes inside position. Parke drags Tokudome to the canvas but he quickly pops back up, although Parke has a reverse body lock. Parke attempts to drag him down again but Tokudome reverses him mid-takedown attempt and winds up on top inside Parke's guard. Tokudome can't do much with the position and Parke reverses him, passing to side control in the final 10 seconds of the frame. 10-9 Parke

Round two: 10-9 Parke
Round three: 10-9 Tokudome

Final result: Norman Parke defeats Kazuki Tokudome via unanimous decision (30-27x2, 29-28)

Edson Barboza vs. Rafaello Oliveira

Round one: Heavy leg kick from Barboza and Oliveira responds with a right hook that comes up short. Barboza again snaps the leg kick and then another. Those are nasty. Huge body kick from Barboza and Oliveira needs to make something happen because standing in front of Barboza is not working. Uppercut from Barboza and damn he's looking fluid. Leg kick buckles Oliveira and this fight is not going to last much longer unless Oliveira does something drastic. Right hand from Oliveira but Barboza responds with a jab. Oliveira shoots in for a single leg but Barboza spins free and blasts him with a body kick. Oliveira shoots in again but gets shrugged off and then nailed with a spinning back kick to the body. Huge leg kick from Barboza and then a body kick. Again Oliveira dives at Barboza's legs but he can't grab ahold of him. Another leg kick and then another. He's already landed 20 this round. Oliveira is limping now and they trade in the pocket but he can't throw with authority. More big leg kicks from Barboza and he JUST misses with a wheel kick as time expires. 10-9 Barboza

Round two: Leg kick from Barboza drops Oliveira to get things started. He lets Oliveira up and then blasts him with another kick. Oliveira shoots in for a takedown but easily gets denied. Oh my another huge leg kick and Oliveira flops to his back. He can barely stand. Another kick and then another. Oliveira drops again and the ref calls it off. That was absolutely brutal.

Final result: Edson Barboza defeats Rafaello Oliveira via TKO (leg kicks) at 1:41 of round two

Round one: Lazy leg kick from Herman and a counter right hand by Gonzaga lands right on the button! Herman goes down! Gonzaga swarms him and that's it. Daaaaaaaamn!

Final result: Gabriel Gonzaga defeats Dave Herman via TKO at 0:17 of round one

Seth Baczynski vs. Brian Melancon

Round one: Heavy leg kick from Melancon to get things started and he lands a big left hook to the body. Melancon is swinging heavy leather and he scores with another left to the body. Outside leg kick from Melancon and Baczynski is not doing a very good job of utilizing his range at all thus far. The left hook from Melancon is downright nasty. Heavy left this time to the head. Baczynski responds with a push kick and he catches Melancon with a short combination on the way in. Finally Baczynski is starting to loosen up but Melancon levels him with a huge left hook. Melancon swarms with ground and pound but Baczynski is defending for now, throwing up kicks and Melancon backs off, allowing him back to his feet. Melancon wings a huge left hook and Baczynski responds with a left counter. Baczynski works for a takedown along the fence but Melancon fends him off. They reset and Melancon shoots in for a takedown, putting Baczynski on his back. Baczynski works to his feet but Melancon blasts him with short right hands and Baczynski gives up on trying to get up. Melancon lands a HUGE left hand on the ground right before the bell and then swarms with punches and Baczynski goes out cold! WOW!!

Final result: Brian Melancon defeats Seth Baczynski via knockout (punches) at 4:59 of round one

David Mitchell vs. Mike Pierce

Round one: Pierce goes for an early clinch and he's got Mitchell pressed against the fence. He works for underhooks but cant' secure the position. Mitchell forces Pierce to back off briefly but htey go back to the clinch where Mitchell is scoring with short strikes on the inside. Heavy knee from Pierce and Mitchell responds with one of his own. Another knee from Mitchell and he's just being the more active fighter here. Pierce continues to work in the clinch but can't get anything going. They separate and Pierce scores with a heavy right hook and then a nice leg kick before going right back to the clinch. 10-9 Pierce

Round two: Pierce immediately takes it right back to the clinch and he scores with a good left hand. Foot stomp from Pierce and they separate. Pierce wings a heavy over hand right then shoots right back in for a takedown along the fence but Mitchell is fending him off. They clinch in the cage center and Pierce works for a head lock. Pierce lands a HUGE left hook along the fence and Mitchell is in big big trouble. Mitchell drops and Pierce swarms him with massive hammer fists until the referee steps in an puts a stop to it.

Final result: Mike Pierce defeats David Mitchell via TKO (punches) at 2:55 of round two
