Miesha Tate doesn't seem to be too popular these days.
The trio recently engaged in a Twitter conversation in which "Rowdy," the current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion, promised to hit "Cupcake" in her nose, described by Mauricio as a "big target" for Rousey when the two lock horns later this year.
Check out the exchange below:
@RondaRousey hit her in that nose at @ufc #TUF finale for me will ya? ;)
@CatZingano dont worry I'll handle her and we'll have the title fight you deserve, heal up ;)
@CatZingano @RondaRousey it's a big target ;)
@zinganobjj: @CatZingano @RondaRousey lol! Yeah it is
So, why the gang-up on Tate?
Well, the history between Ronda and Miesha is well publicized, dating back to the Strikeforce days when "Rowdy" dethroned Tate as the 135-pound queen, and in essence, stole her position as the new face of women's mixed martial arts (MMA).
Zingano and Tate, however, began their rivalry earlier this year at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 Finale when "Alpha" pulled off a come-from-behind victory over "Cupcake," knocking her out in the third and final round to earn a coaching slot on season 18 of TUF and a future title shot against Rousey.
But, a lot of the tension occurred before the fight when Bryan Caraway, current UFC fighter and Tate's significant other, allegedly elbowed Cat in the back of the head before the weigh-ins. And while Bryan has denied the accusations, the incident didn't sit too well with Mauricio.
And rightfully so.
Perhaps the fact that Tate also replaced Cat on TUF due to her unfortunate injury after previously demolishing her, isn't sitting too well with Team Zingano, either.
