No Americans? No problem.
Despite UFC on Fuel TV 10 featuring nine Brazilians on the main card compared to just two US fighters (who both lost convincingly), the American television audience was entranced, handing Fuel TV its second highest audience in the station's history.
Fox Sports released a ratings report earlier today detailing UFC on Fuel TV 10's best aspects, which included a solid 313,000 average viewership as well as a peak of 399,000 viewers, who all tuned in to see number three ranked heavyweight Fabricio Werdum take out mixed martial arts (MMA) legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira via second round armbar submission in the main event..
According to the Fox Sports brass, the Werdum-Nogueira bout was the second highest viewed fight in the history of Fuel TV.
Talk about going out with a bang.
Network Fox is going away from the Fuel TV and Speed channels beginning in August, transitioning to Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2 instead in an attempt to compete with the likes of ESPN and more. UFC has already announced two major events to coincide with the rebranding and relaunch of the stations.
What do you make of the ratings news? Is this a good sign as UFC enters this new transition phase?
