Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo will defend his 145-pound strap against lightweight import Anthony Pettis in the main event of UFC 163, scheduled for Aug. 3, 2013 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The pair had a chance to stare each other down on location during this week's UFC 163 pre-fight press conference media day.
Pettis, who defeated Ben Henderson to win gold under the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) banner, was expected to rematch "Smooth" later this year -- this time for the UFC belt -- but "Showtime" didn't feel like waiting to see how "Bendo's" fight against Gilbert Melendez played out in San Jose and went for the sure thing.
Be careful what you wish for.
The UFC 163 headliner marks the second straight fight for "Junior" against a former -- or in this case current -- lightweight fighter. Earlier this year, Aldo was tasked with turning away former champion Frankie Edgar in the UFC 156 main event in Las Vegas.
He even wants to give them a taste of their own medicine.
