So The Undisputed Light Heavy Weight Champ Jonny Bones Jones, the #2 ranked Pound 4 Pound fighter in the world, the Youngest EVER UFC Champ, an 18 - 1 - 0 record, I mean the man is undefeated well if you go on a technicality there's 1 loss but we all know what happened against Matt Hamill. He's never been taken down or knocked down - the biggest threat to him was Vitor Belfort's armbar & the only time I think his chin was tested was against Machida... (and that awkward broken toe moment)....
So where does Jon Jones go from here? He has cleaned out a division of its former champs @ a record setting age & as fast as a greyhound chasing a hare. The young champ is inevitably going towards a crossroads in his career.
At LHW you have Glover Teixeira, Machida, Gustafsson & Henderson - Not too gone on the latter, I mean yes he has the H-Bomb but I just don't think Henderson provides the greatest challenge for Jones - I think a Jon Jones fightcamp could defend against that. I'd like to see Machida get another shot, let's see how he takes him on now he's been in there already. Teixeira though a perhaps a bit premature (may need to take on a top 5er first) - I'd still like to see it.
THE HEAVYWEIGHT ROAD; We've got Cain Velasquez, we've got Junior Cigano Dos Santos & Cormier - here he is obviously fighting bigger guys, he's got tougher competition - his size, reach & height advantage that he currently has becomes lesser in this division though it does have the makings of fights that you want to see - this road would really test Jonny Bones - if he can do the same thing here as the LightHeavyWeight division he would gain his title undeniably as The Greatest Fighter ever - we are in the middle of it, we are watching it unfold - not saying that he is but he could turn out to be the Muhamed Ali / Mike Tyson of our generation.
THE SUPER-FIGHT ROAD This is the fight that we are all just waiting for the when and the where. Its the Pacquiao -vs- Mayweather of the MMA world. Dana White has said he would make it happen so I am assuming that this is an open path presuming Anderson Silva beats Chris Weidman. I can understand the hesitation on both fighters sides - I mean Anderson Silva does not want to lose nor lose his status as the greatest fighter alive and Bones Jones doesn't want to lose.EVER. (No fighter ever wants to lose but you know for dramatic effect) ... It's one of the rare times when you're sitting on a barstool practically tearing through beer mats out of the frustration of believing whole heartedly on your own side - you're right and thats final & so is that friend/girlfriend/boyfriend whoever that youre sitting there mouthing off at, its that flash where everything goes silent, everybody shuts the fuck up for a minute (or part there of of a fight round) and in this moment history is made,a fights that settles an argument once and for all WHO IS THE BEST FIGHTER ALIVE in the MMA World? Madision Square Garden anyone ?...NYC get your shit together !
I declare that I am not under any circumstances a Jon Jones "Nut Hugger" but if you put all differences aside and just put 2 & 2 together - he is an expert at his job.
Haters gonna hate.
