It has been weeks since Irish mixed martial arts (MMA) sensation Conor McGregor was announced to compete at the UFC on FOX Sports 1 debut this summer, and only today (May 31, 2013) did the name of his opponent come to light.
Damon Martin of Bleacher Report first shared news of the 145-pound match up, stating that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) officials sent out a press release saying both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout.
McGregor (13-2) burst on the UFC scene earlier this year with a sensational first-round knockout of Marcus Brimage at UFC on FUEL TV 9. The finish earned McGregor a $60,000 for "Knockout of the Night" and his standout personality matched with his exciting fighting style has made the 24-year-old a fighter to watch out for.
Ogle (9-2) is not as popular as McGregor, but he is certainly proving to be a capable fighter after defeating Josh Grispi at UFC on FUEL TV 7 in what was by far the biggest victory of his young career.
The 24-year-old was introduced to the UFC audience on season 15 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) reality show where he lost in the quarterfinals to one of the show's eventual finalists, Al Iaquinta.
It is unknown at this time where on the fight card the McGregor vs. Ogle match up will be placed.
