UFC 160 results: Glover Teixeira wants to fight Rashad Evans vs. Dan Henderson winner

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

Whomever emerges victorious in the main event of UFC 161, Rashad Evans or Dan Henderson, Glover Teixeia, winner at UFC 160, wants to fight him sometime this year.

Glover Teixeira was supposed to take another step towards a light heavyweight title shot by defeating Ryan Bader on the main card of last night's (Sat., May 25, 2013) UFC 160: "Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2" pay-per-view (PPV) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. But then "Darth" suffered an injury and James Te Huna stepped in.

Only to get choked out in the very first round.

That's fine, but most considered it a step down in competition. The problem with that is Teixeira is riding an 18 fight winning streak -- one he pushed to 19 with last night's victory -- and he should absolutely be fighting top contenders en route to a title clash against division kingpin Jon Jones.

His manager, Ed Soares, knows this and told MMAFighting.com that they already have an opponent in mind for his next fight:

Ed Soares, the manager of Teixeira, spoke to MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani in Las Vegas following Teixeira's victory. According to Soares, Teixeira is eyeing the winner of the main event for UFC 161: a light heavyweight clash between former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans and former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Dan Henderson.

For his part, Evans is 0-2 in his past couple of appearances, which span two full years. He hasn't been terribly active and when he has, he's been turning in uninspiring performances. Henderson, meanwhile, is coming off a split decision loss to Lyoto Machida back at UFC 157, a defeat that halted his four-fight winning streak.

So why not just book Teixeira vs. Machida?

You know the old song and dance at this point: Friends don't want to fight friends and all that but Soares did say the two could meet inside the Octagon one day ... as long as the 205-pound title is on the line.

As if.

We'll see if UFC President Dana White and company Matchmaker Joe Silva agree with Team Teixeira. Do you?
