According to both pundits and oddsmakers alike, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez was supposed to dismantle Antonio Silva in the main event of UFC 160: "Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2" at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, last night (Sat., May 25, 2013) in their title showdown.
And that's exactly what he did.
The champ whiffed on an early takedown but recovered by sending a straight left, then a right, down the pipe and connecting clean on the pound-for-pound biggest chin in mixed martial arts (MMA). It was powerful enough to send "Bigfoot" spiraling to the canvas in a heap of flesh and failure.
Then, the follow up, where it gets a bit tricky.
Upon first viewing, it simply appeared as though Velasquez pounced on his fallen prey and finished his meal. It's what he does best, after all, and no one batted an eye at the referee stepping in to stop the bout.
But according to Silva, the referee should have stepped in for a different reason entirely, one he voiced at the post-fight press conference: Cain was landing illegal blows to the back of the Brazilian's sizable noggin. It was so bad, in fact, that "Bigfoot" believes the referee should be penalized, a sentiment UFC President Dana White completely agreed with.
In addition to that, Silva believes the bout was stopped too early.
With that in mind, let's take a look at the GIF, courtesy of Zombie Prophet at Bloody Elbow:
Agree with Silva, or think there isn't anything to see here?
