One of Boston's own has finally been booked.
Dana White promised to blow the lid off the promotion's debut with UFC on Fox Sports 1 later this year (Aug. 17, 2013) and the fight card is already starting to come together.
A pair of lightweight veterans of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) are scheduled to throw down as season five vet Joe Lauzon will battle season 12 alumni Michael Johnson. Word of the fight announcement comes via MMA Weekly.
The event will take place at the TD Gardens in Boston, Massachusetts and it will mark the end of the FX and Fuel TV era for UFC shows as everything officially moves to the newly minted Fox Sports channels.
Both lightweights are hoping to turn things around.
Lauzon (22-8) will practically be competing in his backyard, and while he rocked 2012 with some big Fight of the Night-winning bonuses, he went 1-2 in the process, dropping a hard-fought decision to Jim Miller and being knocked out by Anthony Pettis.
Johnson (12-8), a TUF 12 runner-up, was on a hot streak which nearly had him in fringe top 10 territory, but he's fallen on hard times with consecutive losses to Myles Jury and Reza Madadi respectively.
