Both men are coming off first-round defeats in their last bouts and will look to get back on the winning track when they meet at KeyArena in Seattle, Wash., on July 27, 2013.
UFC officials confirmed the 135-pound match up on Thursday (May 9, 2013) via their official Twitter account.
Albert (7-4) will without a doubt be fighting for his job at UFC on FOX 8 as he has dropped three-straight UFC fights, all by first-round submission. Despite getting a "Fight of the Night" bonus for his losing effort against Scott Jorgensen last December, "Prince" has continued to succumb to submissions and will need a win in Seattle.
The 26-year-old started his UFC career out on the right foot with a (technical) knockout of Dustin Pague, but has since hit a slump that he desperately needs to get out of.
Meza (19-8) will drop down to the Bantamweight division for the first time when he meets Albert. The 32-year-old will attempt to produce a better result than his UFC debut where he was knocked out in the first round by former featherweight title challenger Chad Mendes.
As one of the main training partners to UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson at The MMA Lab, Meza knows what it's like to mix it up with the best -- now he just has to transfer those skills over to the Octagon.
Albert vs. Meza will likely take place on the preliminary portion of the UFC on FOX 8 fight card, which is likely to be broadcasted on FX and Facebook. The main card can be seen on FOX.
UFC on FOX 8: "Johnson vs. Moraga" is headlined by a flyweight championship contest as reigning 125-pound titleholder Demetrious Johnson puts his belt on the line for the second time against No. 1 contender John Moraga.
