Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in action earlier today (April 6, 2013) with UFC on FUEL TV 9: "Mousasi vs. Latifi," emanating from the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
Bantamweight "Hulk," Mike Easton, wanted to smash his way back into the win column by trading blows with Brad Pickett, who is always "One Punch" away from ending a fight.
Maybe next time.
The performance was vintage Easton. He was busy and aggressive the entire contest, slugging it out with the British brawler for 15 straight minutes. Unfortunately, Pickett can give as good as he can get, and was able to win the fight (via split decision) by mixing in takedowns and dragging his foe to the floor.
He wasn't able to keep him there, but once it goes south, it's points on the scorecards.
In fact, aside from a decrease in speed, you would be hard pressed to differentiate between the three rounds. Two of the three judges had it 30-27 for "One Punch," as did I, and Easton heads back to the drawing board having dropped two straight for the first time in his career.
But he doesn't have to worry about job security with a performance like that.
