UFC 159: "Jones vs. Sonnen" from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $65,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's heading home with a second sack of simoleons.
It's no surprise that Roy Nelson earned himself "Knockout of the Night" with his two punch performance against Cheick Kongo in the lone heavyweight bout on the card. "Big Country" countered a lazy inside leg kick with an overhand right that turned off the Frenchman's systems.
He shut them off completely with the follow up shot on the ground.
Pat Healy, meanwhile, couldn't have wished for a better return to the Octagon. Not only did he submit Jim Miller with a rear-naked choke, earning himself "Submission of the Night" in the process, he did so after a grueling, back-and-forth battle that lasted well into the third round, making it good for "Fight of the Night" as well.
That's $130,000 just in bonus money, folks.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 159:
Knockout of the Night -- Roy Nelson
Submission of the Night -- Pat Healy
Fight of the Night -- Jim Miller vs. Pat Healy
Again, each fighter received $65,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as that information becomes available.
