Today is Scottidog’s birthday.
Scott embraced the notion that Mania is full of differing ideas. So you’re free to believe otherwise, but I’m of the strong opinion that he’s still around, someplace much better than here, looking after those he loved.
To celebrate Scotti’s birthday, I wanted to share what gift he gave to me during our time together on and outside of Mania.
Scott’s gift to me was one of example. I am a big believer in the power and importance of family, and Scotti consistently demonstrated his love for and pride in his. It became obvious to me that he would give the world if it would better their lives. I remember when I first found about the disease from which he suffered. He explained to me how he was forced to resort to a speech recognition app because couldn’t type (a result of the shakes caused by one of his treatments). He had to be in quarantine after the treatment, and was scared. Though, through all this he didn’t complain for himself, but was more concerned about the effects it was having on his family; in particular his young son.
Scotti’s example in life, and subsequent passing, continues to help me cherish my own family and make the most of the time I have with them. And that is a gift worth more than I can measure.
Happy Birthday Scottidog. You are loved and missed.
