UFC on FOX 7 results: Matt Brown stops Jordan Mein in two

Esther Lin/MMA Fighting

Matt Brown stayed aggressive and stopped Jordan Mein with a vicious onslaught in the second round of their welterweight bout at UFC on Fox 7 tonight (April 20, 2013) in San Jose, California. Here's how it all went down.

Believe it or not, Matt Brown has managed to shoot up the ranks of the Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) welterweight division with a solid four fight winning streak at 32-years-old, with three of those victories coming by way of finish. He was hoping to continue that run at tonight's (Sat., April 20, 2013) UFC on Fox 7: "Henderson vs. Melendez" event at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, against Jordan Mein.

Mein last competed just last month at UFC 158 in Montreal, a technical knockout victory over the durable Dan Miller but was asked to step in on short notice thanks to Dan Hardy's heart troubles. Despite this disadvantage, could he play spoiler to Brown's late career surge and put an end to his win streak?

It didn't look that way early, as Brown unloaded with a series of punches and kicks that had Mein wobbled for what seemed like the entire first round. Jordan would occasionally land a few solid counter shots but he was consistently backing up.

That is until he landed a hard body shot and ended up on top winging big punches. He appeared to be in control until Brown used a triangle to get himself out of trouble long enough to stand up and get back to throwing blows.

Mein managed to get out of the first round, but Brown wasted no time getting aggressive to start the second. He hurt Mein with punches and knees, busting open his nose, and once Jordan fell to the mat and refused to defend himself, "Big" John McCarthy, the referee for the bout, stepped in for the show of mercy.

And the victory for Brown, his fifth in a row.
