Prior to the UFC on FOX 7: "Henderson vs. Melendez" weigh ins on Friday (April, 2013), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight contender Cung Le hosted a question and answer session with mixed martial arts (MMA) fans at the California Theatre in San Jose, California.
Le (9-2) is a beloved member of the Bay Area MMA community as he was one of the first major stars in the now-defunct San Jose based Strikeforce organization, and even captured the company's 185-pound championship belt from Frank Shamrock in what many considered to be the "Fight of the Year" in 2008.
In the 40-plus minute Q&A, Le discussed training camps, the most memorable moments of his career (fights with Shamrock and Rich Franklin), a dream match up with longtime 185-pound titleholder Anderson Silva, and the evolution of striking in the sport.
The 40-year-old also touched on a number of other subjects from the UFC on FOX 7 fight card to the potential of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 runner-up Uriah Hall to his departure from the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA), coaching TUF opposite Wanderlei Silva and so much more.
