Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) officials announced the women's Bantamweight mixed martial arts (MMA) match up earlier this evening via FOXSports.com, marking the Octagon debuts for both combatantsKedzie will make her return to action since her epic battle with Miesha Tate at Strikeforce: "Rousey vs. Kaufman" on Aug. 18, 2012 (watch highlights here), which "Fireball" lost in the third round via submission (armbar) after putting "Cupcake" through a 10-minute ringer in a back-and-forth barnburner.
The Greg Jackson-trained product will look to steer herself out of a two-fight losing streak in Seattle thanks to a unanimous decision loss to another recent signee, Alexis Davis, at Strikeforce: "Fedor vs. Henderson" on July 30, 2011, in her previous performance.
De Randamie, meanwhile, has won three of her last four appearances, including a unanimous decision win over Hiroko Yamanaka at the aforementioned Strikeforce: "Rousey vs. Kaufman" event. Her lone loss during that stretch came at the hands of Julia Budd, who outpointed the Dutch "Iron Lady" on all three judges scorecards at Strikeforce: "Challengers" 16 back in June 2011.
Kedzie and de Randamie were initially booked to scrap at Strikeforce: "Challengers" 19 in Sept. 2011; however, an injury in training derailed the bout.
Better late than never.
UFC on FOX 8 will feature a pair of compelling 170-pound bouts between Rory MacDonald vs. Jake Ellenberger and Robbie Lawler vs. Tarec Saffiedine. The main event, which is expected to showcase Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson vs. John Moraga, has yet to be announced and/or made official.
