MMAmania.com has a complete breakdown and analysis of last night's TUF 17 Finale heavyweight showdown between Travis Browne and Gabriel Gonzaga. What helped Browne bounce back from his first career defeat? Find out below.

Two extremely capable heavyweights battled for supremacy last night (April 13, 2013) as Travis Browne looked to bounce back against former title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga on The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale main card in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Browne was coming off the first loss of his professional career, a knockout at the hands of current title contender Antonio Silva after injuring his leg and he felt he needed to do something impressive to build his hype back up.

Statement made.

Gonzaga, being a champion jiu-jitsu player, immediately closed the distance and worked for a takedown along the fence but Browne denied him, spreading out against the fence to create a stronger base.

Instead of switching up his takedown attack, Gonzaga remained hunched over at Browne's waist, refusing to move. Browne, seeing an opportunity, lifted up his right arm and dropped a brutal elbow on the side of Gonzaga's head by his ear. He threw a couple more that visibly affected Gonzaga and the Brazilian slumped over in big trouble.

Browne continued the elbow assault, blasting Gonzaga with an incidental blow to the back of the head before one final shot as the referee stepped in to put a stop the onslaught.

For Gabriel Gonzaga, he actually had a decent gameplan, it was just the execution that failed him. Standing and trading with Browne would have been bad news and he knew that. Instead, he quickly shot in for a takedown to try to take away Browne's weapons. The problem for Gonzaga was he couldn't put Browne on his back and while his clinch prevented heavy punches, kicks and knees, it didn't stop "Hapa's" elbows. This was his true downfall.
