After three hard fought rounds -- well, three for the victory and two for the loser -- the unheralded Kelvin Gastelum defeated the overhyped Uriah Hall to win the middleweight tournament final at last night's (Sat., April 13, 2013) The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 Finale at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. He did it with a mixture of aggression, timely takedowns, and a bizarre early game plan from his opponent. Indeed, Hall dilly-dallied during the first five minutes, essentially giving away a crucial round that would ultimately cost him the bout. It's not without some measure of controversy, as the Fight Metric report shows statistics that could be enough to call the judges scores into question but there's no doubting Hall could have done more to put himself in a better position to win. Gastelum, meanwhile, fought with everything he had and he was rewarded for his efforts with a $100,000 contract and a slick glass trophy.
